BBC Worldwide Labs

We select six start-ups to join the programme and integrate them into the BBC ecosystem. We provide necessary infrastructure including prime office space at BBC Worldwide and mentoring by internal and external industry experts. The dedicated Labs team helps to facilitate discussions amongst the various business units and brands at BBC Worldwide, encouraging collaboration and partnerships. Our goal is to strategically and commercially partner with and support the most innovative up-and-coming digital media companies that are helping to define the emerging digital landscape.

We hold informal themed events and invite our mentors to speak on relevant topics. Our mentors and speakers are a mix of seasoned executives, successful entrepreneurs, angel investors, legal experts, venture capitalists and more. Sometimes, we’ll just organize a brief talk with Q&A by a CEO or CTO of a well known local startup. Top executives and technical executives from Microsoft, Google, Yahoo, Amazon, and others visit and provide early feedback and opportunities to our companies. All of these sessions will be very informal, fun and give you plenty of time to interact with the mentors personally.

Labs provides office space, internet, and access to meeting rooms for the founders.

The companies that are accepted onto the Labs programme tend to be at different stages in the funding process. Labs and BBC Worldwide do not provide funding or guarantee that you will receive funding after the programme.
